Michael I. Cohen focuses his practice primarily on Minnesota workers' compensation matters, defense of federal Longshore and Harbor Workers Compensation claims, estate planning and probate matters. Since moving to Duluth, MN in 1975 he has represented employees, employers, and self-insured's in a variety of workers' compensation cases, including those involving asbestos exposure and other occupational disease claims, repetitive motion injuries, and apportionment of liability issues. For the past 15 years, the substantial portion of Mr. Cohen's practice has been devoted to workers compensation defense matters for employers, insurers and self insured's, and claims on behalf of interveners. Mr. Cohen has appeared as a lecturer in Minnesota CLE courses and local seminars. He received his Bachelor of Arts (History) degree from the University of Michigan (Ann Arbor) in 1958 and was selected as a Distinguished Military Graduate (ROTC), receiving an officer's commission in the Regular Army where he served with distinction for 12 years. He returned to civilian life in 1970. Mr. Cohen earned a Bachelor of Science (Business Administration) in 1972, and a Juris Doctorate (Law) in 1975 at the University of Minnesota (Minneapolis). Mr. Cohen was designated as a "Super Lawyer" in workers' compensation practice by Minnesota Law & Politics in 2000, 2001, 2002, and 2003.
